QFT and Fractons: Continuum vs Lattice.

I will talk about a novel lattice formulation of many standard and exotic quantum systems, including fracton models, which we call the modified Villain formulation. It has many of the nice features of continuum QFT such as 't Hooft anomaly, duality, etc. At the same time, it regularizes the infinities and other singularities that are common in exotic models. I will first explain the formalism through standard examples such as XY model, compact boson, etc., and then discuss applications to exotic models.
